Animus is committed to protecting your personal data and your right to privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We are the data controller for any personal data you provide to us.
1. Who We Are
Animus (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Animus AI agent platform at tryanimus.com and app.tryanimus.com. For data protection purposes we are the Data Controller.

2. Data We Collect
We collect personal data in the following categories:
- Account data — name, email address, and profile information provided when you register.
- Billing data — payment method details collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store raw card numbers.
- Usage data — agent conversations, messages submitted to AI agents, conversation history, and feature usage logs.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, session tokens, and log data.
- Integration data — credentials and tokens for third-party services you connect (e.g. Buffer, Gmail) stored encrypted at rest.
- Communications — emails or support messages you send to us.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send transactional emails (account alerts, usage warnings, billing receipts)
- Respond to support requests
- Monitor for abuse, fraud, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to train AI models.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
We rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract — processing necessary to provide the Service you have signed up for (account management, AI agent operation, billing).
- Legitimate interests — security monitoring, fraud prevention, service improvement, and analytics.
- Legal obligation — compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Consent — where we explicitly ask for your consent (e.g. marketing emails). You may withdraw consent at any time.
5. Sub-Processors & Third-Party Sharing
We share data only with trusted sub-processors required to operate the Service:

For transfers to the USA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the recipient’s participation in the UK International Data Transfer Agreement framework where applicable.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service:
- Account data — retained for the duration of your account plus 30 days after deletion request.
- Conversation history — retained for the duration of your subscription. Deleted on account closure.
- Billing records — retained for 7 years to meet financial and tax obligations.
- Log data — retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.
7. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent — at any time where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tryanimus.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
8. Cookies
We use only essential cookies required for authentication, session management, and security. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
- Session cookies — maintain your logged-in state (Clerk)
- Security cookies — CSRF protection and fraud prevention
9. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@tryanimus.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or prominent notice within the Service at least 14 days before taking effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
